De ville skapa en företagsanda, som påminde om den bruksanda som fanns i många mindre samhällen. De anställda skulle känna lojalitet med företaget, stanna kvar och göra ett bra jobb. Industriledare talade ofta om en ”stabil, yrkesskicklig arbetarstam”, som en viktig orsak till framgångarna. Både LMV och Rörstrand byggde och ägde ett stort antal hus där anställda kunde hyra en bostad. Verkstadsklubben på LMV fick stöd ur en fond, som ägaren SKF hade, för att anlägga Sjölunda semesterhem utanför Lidköping. Från 1952 till 1992 kunde klubbens medlemmar med familjer tillbringa en sommarvecka i en liten stuga vid Vänerns strand, till låg hyra. Rörstrand gav fina brudkronor i porslin till de tjänstemän som skulle gifta sig. Men det gällde inte arbetarna. I det fallet gjorde man skillnad på folk och folk. De stora företagen gav också frikostiga anslag till sina idrottsföreningar och fritidsklubbar. Rörstrands Idrottsförening, RIF och LMV:s Sportklubb hade sektioner för en mängd sporter, som fotboll, tennis, bandy, badminton, fiske, skytte och schack mm. Även PLMs två plastfabriker hade en egen fritidsklubb, som var verksam fram till 2013. Nya ägare och andra tider satte emellertid punkt för den. I montern syns följande föremål: PLM i Lidköping hade en egen personaltidning som kom ut med flera nummer per år. Tillhör IF Metall, Promens. Dir. F. Wehtjes Wandringspris. LMV segrade i fotbollsturneringen 1946, 1949 och 1950. Kronsågar vann 1947 och 1948. Tillhör Meken-Minnet.
