                <text>Brännebrona är ett litet samhälle som vuxit upp kring en cementindustri i anslutning till dåvarande Riksväg 6, numera Europaväg 20 (E20). Brännebrona kom med tiden att utvecklas till ett litet samhälle med industri, bostäder, eget flygfält och det iögonfallande motellet. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;p&gt;Motellet, Brännebrona Gästis, byggdes år 1962 för att dels erbjuda service till bilister, dels fungera som konfe­renshotell för Götenes näringsliv. Den ursprung­liga byggnaden var en ganska enkel anläggning i det tidiga 60-talets anda, men när det var dags att bygga till motellet 10 år senare, hade ägaren Ernst Skarp blivit inspirerad av amerikanska anläggningar av samma typ. Till­bygget kläddes med betong­element i olika former från Skarps egen cement­fabrik, som till­sam­­mans gjorde att bygg­naden blev uppseende­väckande och omöjlig att inte lägga märke till när man passerade med bil. Brännebrona blev ett i Sverige sällsynt exempel på något som i USA kallades&lt;a title="Googie Architecture" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Googie_architecture" target="_blank"&gt; Googie architecture.&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</text>

                <text>På Kroppefjäll finns ett före detta sanatorium med bevarade byggnader och en omgivande naturpark. Ända in på mitten av 1900-talet var tuberkulos en fruktad folksjukdom i Sverige. I slutet av 1800-talet inleddes en offensiv mot tuberkulosen i landet genom inrättandet av sanatorier, särskilda tuberkulossjukhus. På sanatorierna skulle patienterna få vila, mycket frisk luft och näringsrik mat. Sanatorierna kom i regel att förläggas till lantliga och skogrika trakter där luften var klar och ansågs hälsosam. &#13;
&#13;
Dals-Rostock är ursprungligen en gammal kurort med anor tillbaka till 1760-talet. År 2011 var det 100 år sedan det första länssantoriet byggdes i Älvsborgs län, vilket kom att placeras här. Med sina många faluröda byggnader i den vackra naturen skiljde det sig utseendemässigt från andra sanatorier i landet. I parken och den omgivande naturen finns också stigar och utplacerade monument, byggda för att manifestera kampen mot sjukdomen. Dessa hänger samman med sanatorieläkaren Carl Viktor Saedéns nyskapande idéer om vikten av en stimulerande och vacker miljö för att stärka patienternas självläkande krafter. &#13;

Sanatoriet stängde 1960 och användes därefter av landstinget som utbildnings- och arbetshem för personer med vissa funktionsnedsättningar fram till 1991. Sedan dess har det haft skiftande användningar, bland annat som konferensanläggning och flyktingförläggning.&#13;

                <text>Det före detta tingshuset i Mellerud har ett framträdande läge intill Europaväg 45. Ett tingshus är en domstolsbyggnad där en tingsrätt och längre tillbaks i tiden en häradsrätt skipat rättvisa. &#13;
&#13;
Mellerud växte ursprungligen fram som ett mindre handelssamhälle som bildats kring gästgiveriet, posten och tinget som inrättats på 1600-talet vid de vägar som möts här. Från 1870-talet blev Mellerud också en järnvägsknut och stationssamhälle för att 1908 uppnå status som köping. &#13;
&#13;
Tingshuset uppfördes 1909 på platsen för tidigare tingsstugor för Nordals härad. Huset är uppfört i nationalromantisk stil med tung sluten tegelfasad och ett högt skiffertäckt mansardtak. Huset fungerade som domstolslokal fram till 1996, dock i begränsad omfattning mot slutet. Idag används det före detta tingshuset för många olika ändamål. På de två övre våningarna återfinns Melleruds museum och ett välbesökt släktforskningsarkiv. Sessionssalen på nedervåningen används för möten, både av kommunen och av föreningar.&#13;

Fabriken kan sägas vara en av våra första riktiga industrier och skapades efter engelska förebilder av familjen Gibson på 1830-talet. Här byggdes det upp ett idealsamhälle med industri och arbetarbostäder, och varje tidsepok har på olika sätt skapat avlagringar i den fysiska miljön. &#13;

Knutet till industrin finns arbetarbostäder (flerfamiljshus) i tegel, nationalromantiskt präglade typhus för en och två familjer och även Sveriges äldsta radhus från omkring 1850. I miljön ingår också skola, kyrka och Sveriges äldsta koloniområde - ”Amerika”. Industrimiljön är exteriört mycket välbevarad och berättar sammantaget en mycket spännande historia om ett samhälles och en industris framväxt och utveckling fram till 1950-talet.&#13;

                <text>Axevalla travbana anlades av Västergötlands Travsällskap strax norr om tätorten Axvall och invigdes år 1956. Verksamheten utvecklades efterhand och läktarbyggnad tillkom (år 1967) liksom restaurang (år 1976), båda utformade i rådande modernistisk stil, samt en stor mängd stall och andra nyttobyggnader, träningsbana med mera. &#13;
&#13;
Axevalla travbana är idag landets fjärde största, där många betydande lopp körs, det mest kända är StoChampionatet för fyraåriga ston. Vid travbanan finns över tusen proffs- och amatörtränade travhästar och här bedrivs även travutbildning. Anläggningen är arkitektoniskt sett en utmärkt representant för efterkrigstidens idrotts-, fritids- och nöjeshistoria.</text>

                <text>Kraftverket, som är beläget i utkanten av Stenungssund, är Europas största oljekraftverk som är insprängt i ett berg. Verket byggdes i etapper av Vattenfall mellan åren 1955 och 1969 och består av fyra oljeeldade pannor med tillhörande ångturbiner. Den sammanlagda effekten är 820 MW vilket ungefär motsvarar kärnkraftverket Ringhals 1.&#13;
&#13;
År 1998 lades de fyra pannorna i malpåse, men fem år senare togs aggregat 3 och 4 i bruk igen för att med 520 MW ingå i den svenska effektreserven. Anläggningen är inte öppen för visning i normalfallet men det har hållits konstutställningar i de insprängda gångarna vid flera tillfällen. Kraftverket gav förutsättningar för fler företag att etableras i Stenungssund, framför allt de petrokemiska industrierna. &#13;
&#13;
De fyra iögonfallande skorstenarna som reser sig mer än 150 meter över Vettebergets krön gör kraftverket till en symbol för Stenungssund.&#13;
