Då hade det spelats fotboll på platsen i många år, men det var först på 1920-talet som det väcktes opinion för anläggandet av en fotbollsplan. Gullmarsvallen är resultatet av ett så kallat AK-arbete som bekostades med hjälp av statliga stöd. AK står för Statens Arbetslöshetskommission, en föregångare till Arbetsförmedlingen, som sysselsatte arbetslösa framför allt under 1920- och 30-talen. Satsningen var viktig inte minst längs Bohusläns kustremsa där stenhuggeribranschen upplevde stor kris och arbetslöshet under mellankrigstiden. Det var dessa arbetslösa stenhuggare som tog fram stenen till muren som löper utefter tre av vallens sidor, en mur med ett mosaikmönster med kolonner var tionde meter. Allt arbete utfördes med handkraft och enkla kranar. Gullmarsvallen är idag en viktig symbol för idrottens och folkrörelsernas framväxt under 1930-talet. Platsen har inte bara använts till fotboll utan också för friidrott och gymnastik. Title A name given to the resource Hällestrands semesteranläggning Description An account of the resource När det som idag kallas Hällestrand Resort stod färdigbyggt år 1960, fick de semesterfirande postverksanställda betala 13,50 kr för helpension. Här fanns en matsalsbyggnad med kök, matsal och gemensamma utrymmen samt två längor med lägenheter. De boende kunde välja mellan att bo i lägenheter, stugor eller vandrarhem. Från början fanns också ett särskilt hus för postverkets chefer som numera är rivet. Arkitekter var Nils Nicklasson och Kjell Wennerholm, båda arkitekter vid generalpoststyrelsen i Stockholm. Semesteranläggningen formgavs omsorgsfullt och mycket av den ursprungliga karaktären finns kvar idag. Den putsade matsalsbyggnaden är uppförd i betong och kännetecknas av stora glasade väggpartier. Radhusen är försedda med ett flackt pulpettak och har även de stora glasade ytor mot entrésidan. Description An account of the resource Varvet var också ett av de mer produktiva vad gäller bygge av fiskefartyg. På 1940-talet kunde det byggas två - tre om året. Sammanlaget ett hundratal större sådana byggdes fram till 1965. Det sista fiskefartyget byggdes 1965 och därefter har varvet bl a byggt motorsnipor åt Marinen. 1976 upphörde nytillverkningen, men reparationsverksamheten fortsätter. Under 1960- och 1970-talen blev också vinterförvaring och service åt fritidsbåtar en viktig del i verksamheten. Varvsanläggningen fick till stor del sitt nuvarande utseende på 1940-talet. Man fick då en arbetsorder på ett antal isländska fiskefartyg. Ett krav från de isländska beställarna var att fiskefartygen skulle byggas under tak, och därmed uppfördes 1944 den båthall som är karakteristisk för varvet. Hallen var egentligen tänkt att resas strax intill, men på grund av svårighet att få bygglov i tid, restes den över den befintliga stapelbädden och slipen. Den byggdes samman med smedjan och snickeriverkstaden så att dessa idag utgör en enda byggnadskropp, vilket också ger varvet dess speciella utseende. Title A name given to the resource Hälleviksstrands varv Description An account of the resource Oskar Augustsson började med att utföra reparationer och underhållsarbeten på mindre skutor år 1889. Detta blev grunden till varvet i Hälleviksstrand som etablerades år 1905. Skutorna kölhalades i en vik söder om Hälleviksstrand och där i en klåva ligger kajer, slip, räls och en stor båthall som består av snickeri, smedja med mera. En komplex varvsmiljö som speglar 1940-talet, men äldre byggnader finns också på platsen. Idag drivs varvsverksamheten vidare med reparationer, underhåll och service av träbåtar och är ett av västkustens få varv som ta sig an kulturarvets träbåtar. Fiskets betydelse som näringskälla ökade under slutet av 1800-talet. Allmogesjöfarten gick tillbaka och yrkesfiskarna ökade. Fiskeflottan moderniserades med motorer och nya redskap. Hälleviksstrands varv är en del av en industriepok som varade under hela 1900-talets början och ända in på 1960-talet, då fiskebåtar ännu byggdes av trä. Många varv etablerades utefter kusten i Bohuslän under den här tiden.
