                <text>Gulldalsområdet på Malmön är ett av alla Bohusläns granitbrott där det också förekommit stenbearbetning. Området består av själva brotten och smedja med ett flertal ässjor, mekanisk verkstad, lokstall och snickeriverkstad med mera. &#13;
&#13;
Den bohuslänska stenindustrin inleddes under 1840-talet just på Bohus-Malmön. Stenbrytningen kom att bli omfattande och totalt sett sysselsattes tiotusentals människor i norra Bohusläns granitdistrikt. En stor del av de bearbetade produkterna gick på export eftersom sten behövdes på många håll till de växande städernas gator, murar, byggnader, monument och gravstenar. &#13;
&#13;
Stenbrott som exempelvis Gulldalsområdet är numera övergivna sedan länge, men vittnar fortfarande om en mycket betydelsefull del av den västsvenska industrihistorien.&#13;

Arkivbilderna togs under perioden ca 1900-1950. </text>

                <text>Under 1900-talet öppnades en rad särskilda sjukhus i landet, så kallade sanatorier, med syfte att bekämpa den stora folksjukdomen tuberkulos. De placerades soligt och gärna i ett höjdläge eftersom god tillgång på frisk luft ansågs vid sekelsiktet 1900 vara en viktig del av sjukdomsbehandlingen. &#13;
&#13;
Sanatoriet i Svenshögen, som stod färdigt år 1911, ritades av arkitekten Rudolf Lange vars far kom att bli sanatoriets förste sjukhusdirektör. Till en början fanns det 72 vårdplatser på sanatoriet. Byggnaderna bestod då av sjukhus, maskinhus, tvätt- och uthus och bostadshus. Det första åren var det ett sjukhus för ”hopplöst sjuka”, men bara två år efter invigningen ändrades ändamålet till att vårda TBC-sjuka barn.&#13;
&#13;
Sanatoriet utökade platserna och nya byggnader tillkom åren 1918, 1927 och 1938. Tuberkulosen bekämpades lyckligtvis och på 1960-talet lades sanatoriet ned och övergick till att vara ett sjukhus. Även sjukhuset lades ned och sedan dess har byggnaderna bland annat fungerat som flyktingförläggning, alternativboende och asylboende.&#13;

                <text>Vid Älje/Porsen togs under perioden 1945-67 stora mängder med snäckskal upp ur marken varje dag och gjordes till hönsfoder, en produkt som kallades Diamantskal. Den säckades och kördes till Ängebackens järnvägshållplats för vidare transport över hela landet.&#13;
&#13;
De stora hålen efter verksamheten har med tiden vattenfyllts och blivit till två stora dammar. Det finns ett par fundament kvar från de stora ställningar som stod här för upptagning och torkning av det så kallade skalgruset, och även fundament från ett uppehållsrum för personalen. &#13;
&#13;
Idag är området naturreservat. Verksamheten vid Älje/Porsen betraktas numera som ren rovdrift på en ändlig resurs. Vid snäckskalsbankarna några kilometer västerut finns en besöksanläggning som berättar mer om verksamheten, och även där finns stora täktområden för skalgrus.&#13;
