Title A name given to the resource Museet Description An account of the resource 1901 brann Åmåls stad ner till grunden, så även Dalslands Museum. Den dåvarande fornminnesföreningen lades i det närmaste i malpåse eftersom inget större intresse fanns. 1906 återbildades föreningen på initiativ av bokhållare Ture Langer, Pecka Langers far, som då bodde i Ellenö. Dalslands museum skulle då återuppbyggas. Var det skulle byggas rådde dock delade meningar om. Ödeborgs bruk, som då hette Kristiania Spigerverk, skänkte marken och lovade även att bistå med ekonomiska medel. Detta avgjorde att museet byggdes på sin nuvarande plats. På högsta punkten i Ödeborg, ett gravfält från järnåldern, kunde väl knappast vara ett bättre val, mer än tio gravhögar omger museet. Victor Andersson var den första direktören vid bruket, hans intresse för föreningen bidrog säkert till att donationen blev av. Victor Andersson fick en minnessten rest till sitt minne väster om museet. Byggnaden stod klar 1913, byggd i gammal fornnordisk stil, den innehåller c:a 6000 föremål, de flesta funna i trakten häromkring. De äldsta sakerna är mer än fem tusen år gamla vilket vittnar om mycket gammal bebyggelse här i Valbodalen. Innanför dörren finns ett bord som kommer från en gästgivargård vid Hakerud, på väg mot Vänersborg. Detta användes som ett spelbord där man mätte sin styrka genom att slå mynt i bordskivan, den som inte slog myntet tillräckligt långt ner i bordskivan fick bjuda laget runt på nästa omgång av förplägnad. Till vänster finns postväskor som användes för transport av bland annat post till Ödeborgs bruk, beakta att väskorna är försedda med lås som bara posten och mottagaren hade nyckel till.
