Verket byggdes i etapper av Vattenfall mellan åren 1955 och 1969 och består av fyra oljeeldade pannor med tillhörande ångturbiner. Den sammanlagda effekten är 820 MW vilket ungefär motsvarar kärnkraftverket Ringhals 1.&#13;

År 1998 lades de fyra pannorna i malpåse, men fem år senare togs aggregat 3 och 4 i bruk igen för att med 520 MW ingå i den svenska effektreserven. Anläggningen är inte öppen för visning i normalfallet men det har hållits konstutställningar i de insprängda gångarna vid flera tillfällen. Kraftverket gav förutsättningar för fler företag att etableras i Stenungssund, framför allt de petrokemiska industrierna. &#13;

De fyra iögonfallande skorstenarna som reser sig mer än 150 meter över Vettebergets krön gör kraftverket till en symbol för Stenungssund.&#13;

                <text>Örnäsområdet är ett större rekreations- och fritidsområde beläget vid Vänern, en dryg kilometer sydost om Åmåls stadskärna. Området speglar bland annat fritidslivets framväxt i spåren av det industri- och välfärdssamhälle som kom att etableras med början under 1800-talets andra hälft. Här finns bland annat den stadsnära skogen Örnässkogen med motionsspår, Örnäsvallens idrottsplats, Örnäsbadet (friluftsbad med bryggor och hopptorn) och Örnäs camping med restaurang, stugor och plats för tält och husvagnar. &#13;
&#13;
I Örnäsparken finns en större hembygdsgård med flera ditflyttade äldre byggnader och en friluftsscen för midsommarfirande och dylikt. Örnäsparken, som kan liknas vid ett ”Miniskansen”, växte fram med den tidiga hembygdsrörelsen vid 1900-talets början. Tanken med parken var att här bevara viktiga spår av det traditionella bondesamhälle som fick ge vika för det moderna industrisamhället.</text>

&lt;p&gt;- &lt;em&gt;Wallin! Wallin! &lt;/em&gt;Han tittade upp och där utefter transportgången kom Kjellman springande illröd i ansiktet med hatten i ena handen och en bunt toapapper i den andra. Väl framme hos Wallin skrek han:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;- Ska det vara nödvändigt att repa till sig en sån här bunt papper för ett toalettbesök?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Han stod tyst ett ögonblick och sa sen:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;- Men snälle ingenjörn,&lt;/em&gt; d&lt;em&gt;et måtte väl bero på hur stora ytor man har att gå över. &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Kjällman kastade papperet på golvet och skrek:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;- Wallin, du ska då alltid komma med ett svar!&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Han fortsatte därefter småspringande mot plåtslageriet och muttrade:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;- Dumheter, dumheter.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Själv stod jag kvar med papperet vid fötterna. När Kjällman en stund senare kom tillbaka var det som om händelsen aldrig inträffat. Han hade ett hiskligt humör men långsint var han inte.&lt;/p&gt;</text>
