Det ritades 1968 av arkitekten Arne Nygård och byggdes av Stiftelsen Samhällsbyggen. Området uppfördes i samband med miljonprogrammet, ett bostadsprogram med målsättningen att 100 000 lägenheter skulle byggas varje år under perioden 1965-75. På samma gång har de passerande möjlighet att uppleva konstverk som står mellan pelarna hela vägen; skulpturer i betong, marmorkross och järn. Det gemensamma temat för konsten är kommunikation. Byggnaderna längs Skolspåret uppfördes av betongelement som tillverkades på fabrik. Fasaderna är på tidstypiskt vis klädda på tidstypiskt vis med frilagd sten som ger ett gråaktigt utseende. Byggnaderna längs Skolspåret fick en ambitiös arkitektonisk gestaltning, inte minst för de rundlar i balkongfronterna och fasaderna som ger området ett helt eget uttryck. Hennes hemmahamn är Asperö. Laura togs av tyskarna under kriget, stationerad i Rogalandsområdet. Efter kriget tog Norska sjöförsvaret över henne och hade hemmahamn i Stavanger (Ulsnes). Laura användes till persontransport (upp till 35 pers) och transport av material. Hon gick även som färja mellan Stavanger och marinstationen Ulsnes. 1978 såldes Laura till en privatperson i Stavanger som målade henne vit, för övrigt var hon ren motorbåt med stor styrhytt och rymlig salong men ingen mast. 1988 köpte Ulf och Karin Sandström Laura i Stavanger. Tanken var när hon byggdes att hon skulle segla lyxkryssningar i Medelhavet. Men så blev det inte utan hon har blivit kvar i Sverige och under åren haft många olika hemma hamnar och hette även under en period Gerda. Hemmahamnen hon haft längst är Mollösund, 2002-2014. 2014 såldes hon till en ny ägare och fick hemmahamn Borghamn i Vättern men kom redan hösten 2017 tillbaka till Västkusten.
