De mest slående detaljerna i den i stort sett intakta simhallen är Nils Wedels monumentala glasmosaik längs kortsidorna, samt det vitmålade hopptornet och trapporna i betong. Arkitekter var Nils Olsson och senare Gustaf Samuelsson.&#13;

                <text>Offentliga bad i Göteborg har sedan 1800-talet haft en särskild be¬tydelse. Redan på 1930-talet fanns planer på att kombinera med¬borgarhus, sport och mässa i samma byggnad. Valhallabadet invig¬des 1957 tillgängligt för alla. Det var det första riktigt demokratiska badet utan klassindelning. Här erbjöds både simundervisning och motionssimning men också bad för att bli ren samt solbad. Sim¬hallen placerades på Heden nära mässan och Liseberg och inte så långt från Ulleviarenan som planerades ungefär samtidigt.&#13;
Nya tekniska lösningar togs fram för att omklädningsrum, dusch¬rum och liknande ytor skulle fungera bättre. Formgivarna tänkte också på barnen, till exempel tog de fram extra små toalettsitsar. Valhallabadet hade ett utomhusbad ända fram till 1980-talet. Först då byggdes en 50-meters bassäng inomhus. &#13;
Redan från början var Valhalla en plats för avkoppling med en vack¬er miljö. Konsten hade en central roll i folkhemmets offentliga mil¬jöer och Wedels mosaiker i simhallen och Kaasinens dekorerade kakel i Romerska badet beställdes så att även de estetiska sinnena skulle få sitt. Valhalla är inte bara ett sportpalats, utan en viktig mö¬tesplats och en ikon med sitt ursprung i det moderna Göteborg.&#13;

Klockan ringde ett par gånger om dagen och signalerade viktiga hållpunkter som exempelvis skiftbyte i Nääs textilfabrik. Alla i samhället förhöll sig till klockan. &#13;

Klockan hördes över samhället och fabriken och de tror att den var aktiv ända in på 70-talet. I bakgrunden av inspelningen av Cecilias och Ingvars samtal hörs trafiken från E20 som ligger mellan byn och fabriken. Idag hade klockan inte hörts ända ner till fabriken. &#13;
&#13;
Vällingklockor kallades de klockor på gods som signalerade att vällingen var klar, och att det var dags för rast. &#13;
&#13;
Samtalet spelades in 23 maj 2018 och är en del av projektet Berättelser, minnen, platser där ljudkonstnären Richard Widerberg spelar in berättelser knutet till utvalda platser i olika bygder.&#13;

Först någon gång runt 1914 kom en motor i skutan. 1959 läggs skutan upp. Ägare till skutan är sedan 1997 föreningen Vänergaleasen Minas Vänner.&#13;

                <text>Vänershofshallen i Mariestad byggdes redan 1939 och är en av de allra äldsta idrottshallarna i Västra Götaland. Den har till stor del kvar sin ursprungliga karaktär, och dess kulturhistoriska värde är högt. &#13;

Tidigare hade idrottens vintersäsong till stor del varit fokuserad på skid- och skridskosporter. Väl fungerande och uppvärmda lokaler för en vintersäsong inomhus lyste med sin frånvaro. Med stora moderna hallar som Vänershofshallen, som innehöll läktare, biljettkontor och bekvämligheter som omklädningsrum, började en helt ny era för de som var intresserade av sporter som till exempel handboll och bordtennis. &#13;
&#13;
Vänershof byggdes efter ritningar av arkitektfirman Hagstrand och Lindberg, som ritade flera av de idrottshallar som byggdes i landet under 1930- och 1940-talen. Hallarna uppfördes med fribärande, bågformade limträbalkar, vilket gav hallen en stor fri golvyta, men även den karaktäristiska välvda takformen.&#13;
&#13;
Sammanbyggd med Vänershofshallen finns en byggnadskropp innehållande bland annat omklädningsrum och läktare. Hallen ingår i ett större fritidsområde med en idrottsplats med löparbanor och fotbollsplan, läktare och ishall med mera. &#13;
&#13;
Vänershofshallen är rivningshotad. Fråga om byggnadsminnesförklaring har väckts men avslagits. &#13;
