Title A name given to the resource Wendelsbergs Historia Description An account of the resource Om wendelsberg Innan Wendelsberg blev en folkhögskola så var huset bostad till ägaren av dåvarande Mölnlycke Väfveriaktiebolag, Bruno Wendel och hans hustru. Från början var huset tänkt att byggas i sten men det kom slutligen att byggas i trä. Huvudbyggnaden på Wendelsberg tillkom 1883 och var avsedd till att tjäna som privatbostad åt Bruno Wendel, som drev Mölnlycke bomullsväveri, där man bland annat tillverkade mollskinn. Wendel var vid tiden kring sekelskiftet en av de rikaste männen i Sverige. Vid två tillfällen brann fabriken ner. Då lät Wendel anlägga parken bredvid huset. Arbetarna på fabriken fick även arbeta där under perioder av lågkonjunktur. Folkhögskola blev Wendelsberg den 3 november 1908 då nykterhetsorganisationen Nationalgodtemplarorden officiellt invigde skolan. NGTO hade börjat med att hyra huset under ett år för 2000 kronor. 1907 köper NGTO Wendelsberg för 45000 kronor, det var mindre vad takmålningen i huvudbyggnaden hade kostat att måla på 1880-talet. Stora delar av byggnaden byggdes om på 30-talet och senare lades det till två byggnader. Fabriksområdet har anor från 1830-talet då ett spinneri anlades på platsen, tack vare vattenkraften och närheten till bra transportvägar. Anläggningen växte med åren och blev till ett eget samhälle med fabrik, disponentvilla och arbetarbostäder. Werners fabriker var under en lång period den största arbetsplatsen i Lindome socken. Title A name given to the resource Westerstrands ur Description An account of the resource Westerstrand & Söner Urfabrik grundades 1906 av Yngve Westerstrand. Det som startade som ett ordinärt urmakeri utvecklades med åren till en fabrik för tillverkning av torn- och stationsur, väggur och pendyler samt med tiden även tidur för till exempel idrottshallar och centraluranläggningar. Ur från Westerstrands finns och har funnits i snart sagt alla typer av miljöer där klockslag är viktiga, från hem och skolor till fabriker, idrottsanläggningar och kyrkor med mera. Fabriksbyggnaden som verksamheten inrymdes i uppfördes i funktionalistisk stil 1941 efter civilingenjör Göran Bergwalls ritningar. Karaktärsskapande för den i övrigt enkelt gestaltade fabriksbyggnaden är det centrala tornet med urtavlor som signalerar originalverksamheten i byggnaden. Arkitekturhistoriskt är byggnaden intressant, bland annat då den visar på hur funktionalismens formspråk dröjde sig kvar länge på landsorten. Sedan en tid tillbaka hyser fabriksbyggnaden andra funktioner än den ursprungliga. Westerstrands Ur gick i konkurs under 1980-talet men delar av verksamheten lever ändå kvar idag i Töreboda, idag som ett internationellt företag inom branschen tidssystem och informationstavlor.
